    Economy News-Baghdad
OPEC and its allies increased crude oil production by 140,000 barrels per day in December, according to the latest survey by S&P Global Commodity.
The company said in a report that "the 13 member states of the organization and its allies increased their oil production in December to reach 28.98 million barrels per day, an increase of 140,000 barrels per day from last November, led by Nigeria, while Iraq's production decreased."
The survey found that “Saudi Arabia, the largest OPEC country, pumped 10.48 million barrels per day in December, a slight increase on a monthly basis of two thousand barrels per day, while Iraq, the second largest member, produced 4.46 million barrels per day, a decrease of 3 thousand barrels per day from November, however, its production increased from the production rate set by the organization (the quota), which amounted to 4.31 million barrels.
The survey found that “Russian volumes fluctuated slightly to 9.86 million barrels per day in the month, down by only 10 thousand barrels per day. However, the largest increases came from Nigeria, as its oil production rose by about 92 thousand barrels per day to 1.158 million barrels per day, followed by Angola 38 thousand barrels per day.
"Despite the overall increase, the alliance's production remains significantly behind its production targets, with a gap of 1.80 million barrels per day in December, with most members facing technical or financial difficulties in maintaining production," it noted.
