    The Parliamentary Electricity and Energy Committee discussed, on Wednesday, the possibility of extinguishing the accumulated electricity collection debts owed by citizens.
    The Parliament's Media Department said in a statement, "The Parliamentary Electricity and Energy Committee held a meeting chaired by Representative Khaled Hassan al-Samarrai and attended by a number of its members to discuss the issues on its agenda."
    And the department stated, "The committee discussed the book of the Ministry of Electricity on amending the ministry's law before reading it for the second reading in the House of Representatives to reach the appropriate formula and study it in the State Council, as well as the possibility of extinguishing the accumulated electricity collection debts incurred by citizens."
    And she continued, "The committee discussed a number of proposals to host the Minister of Electricity, the most important of which is the Ministry of Electricity's submission of a bi-monthly report on the ministry's program and the implementation of its plan to advance the electricity sector and fill the energy shortage, in addition to how to implement the ministry's plan submitted for the summer of 2023 and the stages of its implementation, as well as setting up the energy division machine." On the provinces in the centers of cutting and standards in dividing shares in one province and supplying electrical transformers, and the possibility of exploiting the cadres in the ministry to establish and repair the towers of electric lines.
    She added, "The committee followed the file of renewable energy and the mechanism followed by the ministry regarding solar energy, and what are the obstacles that prevent the completion of the file, as well as the ministry's procedures for an alternative to Iranian liquefied gas and solutions thereon."
