[size=45]The government is intensifying its measures to follow up on speculators with the intent of raising the value of the dollar against the Iraqi dinar, price manipulators and those causing the high price of the market.[/size]
[size=45]The Iraqi markets are witnessing a great price as a result of the high value of the dollar against the Iraqi dinar, amid great discontent from the citizens, as these changes led to a decline in their purchasing power. A spokesman for the Ministry of Interior, Khaled Al-Muhanna, said, “There are special laws for the Central Bank of Iraq according to which financial transactions take place, so there are violations related to some speculating with the intention of raising the value of the dollar, and this is in cooperation with banks from the Central Bank of Iraq and with inference from them as they are the technical authority specialized in detecting cases.”[/size]
[size=45]Al-Muhanna indicated that “some owners of exchange offices that operate outside the controls, and without approvals or official permits, have been arrested.”[/size]
[size=45]He added, "Some banks that receive from the currency auction, and sell it at a price different from what is in the instructions and regulations, are an explicit violation of the laws of the Central Bank, and as the police are the law enforcement agency, so they deal with this situation."[/size]
[size=45]Al-Muhanna stressed that "there are campaigns against some people who try to take advantage of any crisis, whatever it is, even if it is fabricated, with the intention of profiting at the expense of the citizen's interest."[/size]
[size=45]He continued, "There is a campaign to pursue price manipulators, and it is still continuing to arrest anyone trying to create a crisis."[/size]
[size=45]He pointed out that “the police, economic security detachments and the fight against organized crime are deployed in the markets to follow up on selling the dollar, in addition to following up on people who are trying to monopolize commodities with the intent of raising their price.”[/size]
[size=45]He continued, "Monopolizing commodities constitutes a violation of the law, and it is not permissible to monopolize commodities or to speculate at the expense of the citizen's interest or to try to profit illegally."[/size]
[size=45]Al-Mahna went on to say that "food price manipulators have been arrested and the law is on the lookout for them."[/size]
[size=45]In addition, the General Manager of the General Trading Company for Foodstuffs, Lama Al-Moussawi, said, “The company, under the direction of Prime Minister Muhammad Shia’a Al-Sudani and under the supervision and follow-up of Minister of Trade Atheer Al-Ghurairy, formed a crisis cell and an emergency team to monitor the high prices of some foodstuffs, such as table eggs and frozen chicken.”[/size]
[size=45]And she added that “during the past two days, direct sales markets have been opened in most of our outlets in Baghdad, to sell table eggs at a price of 4,750 dinars,” noting that “some merchants seek to bring the price of the egg layer to 7,000 dinars and more.”[/size]
[size=45]And she continued, "The table eggs arrived in the province of Najaf during the past two days," noting that "the company's outlets are still being prepared in all the provinces, as we went yesterday to the provinces of Dhi Qar and Maysan."[/size]
[size=45]And she emphasized that “the company continues to sell commercial zero flour at competitive prices,” pointing out that “there has been no increase in flour, which has continued to maintain its price for months.”[/size]
[size=45]Al-Moussawi stated that "there are efforts to sell chicken, fish and adult milk at competitive prices during the next week, and in the same outlets spread in Baghdad and the provinces."[/size]
[size=45]Yesterday, Monday, Trade Minister Atheer Al-Ghurairy announced the start of selling flour brand (DAS) at a price of 39 thousand dinars per bag at distribution outlets in Baghdad and the provinces.[/size]
[size=45]This came after the Ministry of Commerce announced, earlier, the start of selling table eggs at subsidized prices to limit the rise in their prices in the market.[/size]
