Many international companies gathered on the grounds of the Baghdad International Fair to participate in the 8th Iraq International Energy Exhibition and Conference, through which it was confirmed that 1,000 megawatts would be added to the national grid during 2023.
Minister of Electricity Ziyad Ali Fadel said: "Such exhibitions and qualitative participation in them contribute to supporting a solution to the challenges facing electricity, as well as to standing up to climate challenges and taking precautions to shift towards clean energy."
He stressed that "work is continuing in order to bridge the gap between production and demand and achieve stability in the production and processing of electricity by raising the efficiency of gas stations," pointing to the existence of a plan to rehabilitate transmission and distribution networks to reduce waste from energy production, "pointing to the ministry's interest in what was approved by international conferences specialized in The topic of climate change.
As for the Minister of Commerce, Atheer Dawood Salman, he stated in his brief speech that the government is determined to develop performance to great levels, and will leave a positive imprint in all sectors, especially in the energy sector.
While the representative of General Electric hinted that "the cooperation between the company and the Iraqi Ministry of Electricity extends to more than 6 decades, pointing out that the company has provided nearly $2.4 billion from international funds to develop the energy sector in Iraq."
He pointed out that the company has worked to develop Iraqi human resources through training programs that enable them to use advanced technology, pointing out that the company is working intensively with the Ministry of Electricity to develop a future picture of the electricity sector and to secure sustainable energy for Iraq.
As for the representative of Siemens, he stated that "the company is aware of the importance of developing the energy sector in Iraq and has worked to develop local expertise," noting that the company, through its projects, is working to add 1,000 megawatts to the national grid.
He stressed that "Iraq has great resources that drive the development of the economy and the energy sector, including natural gas, which can lead Iraq to become a center for the export of energy," pointing out that the company is working on adopting an approach that develops this sector and provides energy for millions of Iraqis by working to find the necessary solutions for this. sector".
