    Baghdad today - Baghdad
Today, Friday, a Jordanian industrial official revealed an agreement with Baghdad to establish commercial partnerships "far from competition."
Jordanian media, followed by (Baghdad Today), quoted the head of the Amman and Jordan Chambers of Industry, Fathi al-Jaghbir, as saying, “The Jordanian private sector is keen to make its economic relations with Iraq on the basis of complementarity, as it is an important trade partner for Jordan.
He added, "The opportunities for cooperation between the private sector in the two countries are large and wide, which also encourages the establishment of joint investments and commercial partnerships."
He referred to "the agreement with the Iraqi Federation of Industries and Trade that the next stage will witness bilateral work away from competition."
Al-Jaghbir continued, "The Jordanian industry has many export opportunities to the Iraqi market, with a value of more than $200 million, represented by the food, pharmaceutical, plastic, and packaging industries of paper and metal."
He stressed that "Iraq is associated with Jordan with many trade and economic agreements and memorandums of understanding, which contribute to framing and enabling fraternal relations between the two countries, foremost of which is an economic and technical cooperation agreement signed in 1980 and the free trade agreement signed in 2009.
He stressed "the need to build strategic partnerships at the level of private sector institutions, especially in light of the joint projects agreed upon to be implemented between the two countries in the coming years, foremost of which is the economic city that will be established equally on the borders of the two countries.”
And he added, “Jordanian industry has the ability to support the reconstruction process in Iraq, such as the construction and mining industries, which have a solid and wide production base of iron, cement, stone and marble products, in addition to chemicals such as paints, fertilizers, and raw chemicals used in the construction and engineering industries, as well as sanitary and electrical supplies.”
