the Iraqi government spokesman, Basem Al-Awadi, confirmed today, Monday, that the Prime Minister, Muhammad Shia Al-Sudani, insists on regulating the market and the trade process, while indicating that new packages and measures will be launched to protect the Iraqi currency and modernize the financial system.
Al-Awadi said in a televised interview: "The Iraqi delegation's visit to Washington was important," noting that "Iraq welcomes the relationship with the United States and is trying to strengthen it in many areas."
He added, "The talks that took place in Washington focused on economic cooperation, the energy sector, and climate change, as the US administration welcomed the Iraqi efforts to enact economic reforms, and that the US side emphasized the government's continuous efforts to protect the banking system, which is a tribute to the firm measures taken by the Iraqi government." about the exchange rate and work together to modernize the financial system.
