    The President of the Republic Receives the Secretary General of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO)
     
    His Excellency the President of the Republic, Dr. Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid, received today, Monday, February 27, 2023, at the Baghdad Palace, a delegation of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), headed by the Secretary-General of the Organization, Mr. Juan Carlos Salazar, and in the presence of the Head of the Iraqi Civil Aviation Authority, Mr. Imad Abdul Razzaq Al-Asadi.
    The President of the Republic stressed the need to consolidate the existing cooperation relations between the International Civil Aviation Organization and the Iraqi Civil Aviation Authority, in a manner that aims to improve the work of Iraqi aviation, achieve international standards in the work of airports, facilitate the procedures provided to Iraqi travelers and arrivals to Iraq, and ensure the functioning of air transport.
    Mr. President added that Iraq is one of the first leading countries in the Middle East in the field of air transport, pointing to the importance of exerting more efforts in order to resolve the existing problems with speed in completion and without delay in achieving international standards in safety, as His Excellency indicated that the required support will be provided to achieve The desired objectives.
    For his part, Mr. Juan Carlos Salazar expressed his happiness and his accompanying delegation to visit Iraq and the capital, Baghdad, indicating that the organization is working side by side with the Iraqi Civil Aviation Authority to solve outstanding problems to reach international standards, stressing the ICAO's aspiration to more Cooperate with the Iraqi Civil Aviation Authority in a way that contributes to the development of Iraqi airports and guarantees the best international standards adopted in air aviation.
    For his part, the Head of the Civil Aviation Authority, Mr. Imad Abdul-Razzaq Al-Asadi, stressed the continuation of the tireless work in order to implement international standards in all Iraqi airports without complacency, indicating that the results of the meetings with the Aviation Organization are positive and satisfactory.
