Yesterday, Monday, the Minister of Health, Saleh Al-Hasnawi, announced the completion of the project to localize the pharmaceutical industry in Iraq, while indicating the completion of the electronic link requirements for health insurance.
Al-Hasnawi said in a press conference held yesterday, followed by (Al-Mada), that "our ministry is part of the government of Prime Minister Muhammad Shia'a Al-Sudani, and one of the priorities of the sectors that the government has given is the health sector." He added, "Our ministerial program includes the implementation of the health insurance law and the completion and operation of hospitals in a modern system with the participation of the foreign private sector specialized in managing hospitals and caring for health care."
Al-Hasnawi explained, "There are paragraphs in the health insurance law that need a budget, but we have issued instructions to implement the first phase of the law, and we have completed the electronic link requirements for health insurance, and we will invite companies to sign the contract after approving the budget." And he stressed, “Follow-up on the completion of projects, as Basra Hospital is ready for opening, and after that Maysan Hospital will also be ready, with the rehabilitation of several other hospitals.”
Al-Hasnawi pointed out, “The approval of an integrated center in Anbar and the rehabilitation and modernization of equipment in all hospitals.”
And he talked about “completing 8 devices for cardiac centers and accelerating quite a few contracts for heart devices, in addition to dialysis machines.”
Al-Hasnawi stated, "The services that were completed within 100 days include the rehabilitation of Al-Kadhimiya and Al-Kindi Hospitals and the Canal Center, which is one of the important centers."
He noted, "The opening of a number of dialysis centers in addition to the surgical and educational hall in Baghdad, and 12 popular clinics and a burn center in Fallujah."
And Al-Hasnawi went on to, “The completion of the project to localize the pharmaceutical industry, and we provided facilities to drug manufacturers, and large quantities of drugs were destroyed.”
And the ministry's spokesman, Saif Al-Badr, had said earlier, "The implementation of the health insurance law of this strategic importance will be in a phased manner."
Al-Badr continued, “The first phase will include 300,000 beneficiaries, including no less than 100,000 poor families who are registered with the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs,” noting that “the service provided to this segment will be completely free of charge.”
He pointed out that the implementation of the law will be, in the first stage, limited to institutions in Baghdad.
Al-Badr explained, "The ministry announced the registration link, and everyone is invited to register in the law."
And he continues, “The actual service of the health insurance law will be within six months and in July of this year.”
And Al-Badr concluded, "The law, according to the phased application, will include all Iraqis and even foreigners present in Iraq, whether they are employees or non-employees."
