On Thursday, the Vice President of the Kurdistan Regional Government, Qubad Talabani, stressed the need to resolve oil policy with the federal government.

Talabani said in a statement during the Sulaymaniyah Forum, followed by "NAS", (March 16, 2023), "We must reach a solution in oil policy with the federal government because the problem lies in oil and there is no solution to financial problems without the existence of an oil law that distributes roles between the different parties in exploration." From production to marketing and export, and then receiving the money and how to distribute it.
He added, "The solution lies in finding a formula for what to do with the oil after it is extracted, and there is a difference in viewpoints in the region. Personally, I do not care who sells oil and I prefer someone who sells it at a better price. We have not entered into this important discussion since 2007, and all the battles over oil were sideways."
