    Baghdad Today - Baghdad
An informed source confirmed, today, Monday (November 18, 2024), that American forces at the Ain al-Assad base have repositioned themselves in what he called the desert triangle in western Iraq.
The source told Baghdad Today, "The American forces deployed in important parts of the Ain al-Assad base, west of Anbar, began, since the early hours of dawn, repositioning themselves within a geographical triangle located north and northeast of the base within the external axis of the walls, or what is known as the desert triangle."
He added that "the repositioning comes in order to enhance the security of the base, especially in open areas, within the security safety procedures that are adopted through measures on the ground," noting that "everything that is implemented indicates that these forces are adopting contexts of staying for many years and not for a temporary period."
He pointed out that "the flying of drones over Ain al-Assad, especially in the early hours of the morning, has become a familiar sight, especially with the ongoing state of alert, but according to varying levels of implementation of its standards on the ground."
An informed source revealed, on Wednesday (November 13, 2024), the beginning of what he called external fortifications on three axes of the Ain al-Assad base, west of Anbar Governorate .
The source said in an interview with "Baghdad Today", "The engineering effort of the American forces stationed at the Ain al-Assad base, west of Anbar, began in the early hours of dawn to build fortifications outside the base walls on 3 axes for the first time in years ."
He added, "The fortifications come within the framework of Al Qaeda's efforts to secure its main axes amidst the tensions in the Middle East and the possibility of being exposed to direct attacks ."
He pointed out that "the main axes of the fortifications are not known, but it seems that the Americans' concern has prompted them to take more preventive measures around the largest military base where their forces are stationed in the country, and which constitutes an important focal point in the Middle East in general."
It is noteworthy that the United States has deployed about 2,500 soldiers in Iraq, along with 900 others in Syria, as part of the international coalition that it formed in 2014 to fight the terrorist ISIS.
