Iraq markets its dry canal to neighboring countries and the world

Iraq is counting on implementing its vision to operate the dry canal from its ports on the Arabian Gulf from the east of the world in Asia, to its west in Europe, through its dry canal, which is expected to be a land bridge linking from Basra to Turkey and then Europe, as well as from Iraq to Iran and Azerbaijan, in A way to achieve financial revenues, the amount of which has not yet been determined.
Member of Parliament Rafiq al-Salhi said, in an interview with "Al-Sabah": "With regard to the dry channel, it may return to us the preference to place Iraq's historical footprint in linking the global trade routes that shorten the time between East and West," adding that "this will be achieved provided that all infrastructure is provided, including roads." Fast, wide and rail."
Al-Salihi added, "With the completion of this channel from the port of Faw across the area of Iraq towards Europe, it will have a new and large economic reality, in which the sources of non-oil income for Iraq will vary through "transit" operations to transport goods, in addition to a political reality through which all countries of the world seek to support the situation. Security stability in Iraq and the region and creating job opportunities inside and outside Iraq in neighboring countries.
Al-Salhi believes that "one of the elements of the dry canal's success is the acceleration of the implementation of the port of Faw," noting that "the government is serious and insisting on these great steps through the success of this project, which is a quantum leap for Iraq and its economic resources."
He continued, "The project is strategic and important for Iraq and the countries of the region, especially Iran and Turkey, to transport goods and energy to and from northern Europe and to the Gulf and Asia and vice versa."
