Baghdad / Obelisk Al-Hadath: Representatives criticized the share of the southern governorates in the budget, which is the largest in the history of the budgets of successive governments, similar to the share of Kurdistan, whose share is estimated at the shares of eight governorates.
On May 15, the Parliamentary Finance Committee began voting on the budget materials in preparation for submitting them to the House of Representatives, while the odds indicate that the voting date inside the parliament will be next Saturday.
Representative Yasser Al-Husseini said that the share of the central and southern governorates is disadvantaged in the budget law, and we demand its fairness.
And a member of the Parliamentary Finance Committee, Mustafa Sanad, considered that the central and southern governorates were wronged in the budget.
The figures indicate that the southern and central governorates have allocated five trillion, while the Kurdistan region has been allocated 22 trillion.
He criticized the representative of the province of Basra, the amount of funds allocated by the federal government to Basra, amounting to 1.5 trillion dinars.
Observers believe that the current budget has been unfair to many southern governorates, such as Maysan, Wasit, Muthanna, Dhi Qar, and others, as its percentage ranged from 1% to 2% only.
Since 2003, the governments that have worked on approving budgets have not done justice to the central and southern governorates, and they have always been wronged compared to Kurdistan.
The deficit rate amounted to 63.275 trillion dinars, with the adoption of a price of $70 per barrel of oil, given that more than 95 percent of budget revenues depend on oil sales.
Experts talk about the share of Basra and the southern provinces in the Iraqi budget that does not reflect the real needs of these regions and represents a clear neglect of them, and this means that development and service projects in those regions will continue to be delayed and neglected.
An economic follower on Al-Farhoud from Babylon believes that Kurdistan's share in Iraq's budget seems exaggerated and unfair, as it represents a large percentage of the budget despite the fact that the region enjoys a lot of natural and oil resources.
He added, "Kurdistan's share in Iraq's budget appears to be greater than other shares, although the region has not achieved much progress in the past years, and this means that the government is paying a heavy price without obtaining tangible results," calling on the government to reconsider Kurdistan's share in the budget, as it It seems that the region enjoys undue privileges and this negatively affects the shares of other regions in the country.”
