    Shafaq News/ The Minister of Industry and Minerals, Khaled Battal Al-Najm, revealed today, Friday, the Iraqi government's intention to withdraw from investment projects and leave them in favor of the private sector, which contributes to increasing job opportunities in the country.
    The Minister held a press conference today on the sidelines of his visit to the industrial city project in Basra Governorate, in which he announced the government's directions and the Ministry's steps to develop the industrial city in Basra Governorate and establish other industrial cities.



    Al-Najm referred to a review of the industrial city project in Basra, which was suspended for many years due to the suspension of investment projects according to Resolution (347) of 2015, considering the area of ​​​​the industrial city in Basra, which is 174 dunums, to be small compared to the size and importance of the province and the industrial sector.
    He added that an area of ​​(100) dunums will be added to the city, with work to increase the area in the future.
    Al-Najm also pointed out that the current trend of the Iraqi government is towards supporting the private sector in all its details, and the withdrawal of ministries from some projects that this sector can complete to provide job opportunities.
    And he went on to say that there are new industrial cities that will see the light soon 3 in Nineveh, in the cities of Mosul, Tal Afar, and the site of Jaber bin Hayyan, in addition to cities in the governorates of Karbala, Najaf, Babil, Wasit, and other cities that are in the process of being announced in a number of governorates.
    The Minister of Industry noted the completion of (200) dunums of the industrial city in Dhi Qar out of a total area of ​​(2000) dunums and its distribution to industrialists and the announcement of the remaining (1800) for the purpose of developing it by the private sector.
