Shafaq News/ The Minister of Energy in the Lebanese caretaker government, Walid Fayyad, denied, on Monday, information that indicated a waste of the quantities of "Iraqi fuel" that arrive in Lebanon to operate the electricity plants, after a statement by the "Progressive Socialist" party, which said that up to The coefficient "does not exceed half the quantity that Iraq sends."

Fayyad confirmed in press statements, seen by Shafaq News Agency, that "the quantities that leave Iraq and arrive in Lebanon are documented accurately in tables and figures obtained by Iraq as well."
And the Minister of Energy pointed out that "the quantities that enter from Iraq are loaded on ships, and delivered to the company that wins the tenders that are now in the last stage being completed according to the Public Procurement Law after its entry into force."
He added, "It is true that the quantity that reaches the factories is half, or less than that that comes out of Iraq, but that is not because of waste, but rather because of the difference between the type of Iraqi fuel and the fuel required by the factories in Lebanon, according to certain conditions that match European conditions, so that It is exchanged in tenders, taking into account the difference in its value.”
He explained, for example, if "Iraq sent 80 thousand tons of fuel, which is known as (high silver), and the price of a ton of it is about $ 375, while the diesel that the Lebanese factories need costs $ 750, meaning that every two tons of Iraqi fuel It is equal to one ton of what the Lebanese factories need.”
Last Friday, the Lebanese Progressive Socialist Party called, in a statement, to verify questions stating that the actual quantities that Lebanon receives from this fuel "does not exceed half the amount that Iraq sends," and that there are doubts about the numbers and data related to the quantities of Iraqi fuel. Which reaches the factories, bearing in mind that Lebanon imports much larger quantities than its needs.
