    Baghdad today - Baghdad
Today, Monday (September 18, 2023), Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani directed National Security Advisor Qasim Al-Araji to go to Erbil to follow up on the security agreement with Tehran.
Al-Araji’s media office stated in a statement received by “Baghdad Al-Youm,” that “The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani, directed the National Security Advisor, Qasim Al-Araji, to go to Erbil at the head of a high-level security delegation to follow up on the implementation of the security agreement between Iraq and Iran.”
Yesterday, Sunday (September 17, 2023), Iranian Defense Minister Mohammad Reza Ashtiani issued what the Iranian media described as a “final warning” to the Iraqi authorities about disarming the Iranian Kurdish separatist groups stationed in northern Iraq, hinting at military action after reviewing the measures taken before the end of the deadline.
The "Iran Front Page" network said, according to what was translated by "Baghdad Today", that "Iranian General Ashtiani issued a 'final warning' to the Iraqi authorities," indicating that "the steps taken by Baghdad and Erbil, despite their 'importance', were not achieved properly." Until now, the Iranian conditions have been completely fulfilled,” according to his description.
The Iranian general "waved a military move" targeting the Kurdish groups in northern Iraq if "all the conditions agreed upon through the security agreement held last March were not met," stressing that "Iran will evaluate Iraq's implementation of the agreement during the last hours before the end of the deadline."
It is noteworthy that the Iranian authorities had previously refused to extend the deadline they granted to the Iraqi government, which expires on the nineteenth of this month, to disarm and transfer the armed Kurdish groups stationed on its border with Iraq, after announcing that the Erbil government had reached an agreement with those militias to transfer them. From its current areas on the border strip, to internal camps in the governorates of Erbil and Sulaymaniyah.
