Member of the Parliamentary Finance Committee, Mudar Al-Karawi, confirmed on Friday that the issue of increasing the salaries of retirees has been on the table for 3 years.
Al-Karawi said in an interview with Al-Maalouma, “The living situation of a large percentage of retirees requires a realistic reconsideration of their salaries in a way that leads to providing them with a decent living, especially with the high prices and medicines due to the rise in the dollar exchange rate in the past months.”
He added, “Increasing the salaries of retirees has been on the table for three years, but the economic conditions in general have postponed any decisions regarding it,” pointing out that “we support any increase for this segment, but the matter depends on one point, which is the extent of the government’s financial abundance to cover the ceiling for paying any increase in salaries.” ".
He pointed out that "increasing the salaries of retirees is a legitimate right that we strongly support, and we are working with the government to formulate any steps in this direction."
