Shafaq News/ The "Islamic Resistance" in Iraq announced that it had targeted the "American occupation base in Syria's Al-Tanf" with two drones that directly hit their targets, according to a statement it issued at dawn on Saturday.
This comes after US President Joe Biden announced last night that he had ordered attacks against Iranian targets in Syria, and said that Washington is ready to take further measures, “as necessary,” to confront further threats.
Biden said in a letter to the Speaker of the US House of Representatives, Mike Johnson, that “militia groups affiliated with the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps have committed a series of attacks against American individuals and facilities in Iraq and Syria since October 17, 2023,” noting that many American soldiers were injured in those attacks.
He said that on Thursday he ordered targeted strikes against facilities in eastern Syria used by the Iranian Revolutionary Guard and its affiliated groups to "achieve deterrence."
The US Department of Defense reported earlier that Biden ordered strikes on Iranian facilities in Syria, “in response to a series of attacks” targeting the US armed forces.
