Today, Tuesday (November 7, 2023), development and investment expert Amer Al-Jawahiri identified three negatives to the Central Bank’s electronic platform for selling the dollar .
Al-Jawahiri said in an interview with “Baghdad Today” that “the electronic platform launched by the Central Bank to sell the dollar faces three important drawbacks, the most prominent of which is the lack of outlets that the citizen can access, in addition to the great momentum, not to mention the long routine procedures, which prompts many to buy... What he needs for travel and trade purposes from the parallel market.”
He added , "There is no guarantee that any traveler can obtain the dollar at the airport at a 100% rate, in addition to the difficulty of waiting, especially for the elderly, children, and women," stressing that "follow-up and regulatory and administrative procedures will contribute to creating high flexibility in overcoming any gaps."
He pointed out that "there are attempts to contain the file of corruption and smuggling through the platform, and it should not be exaggerated. Rather, attention should be paid to the presence of side practices that lead to obstructing travelers from obtaining dollars through the timings, approved mechanisms, and extent of flexibility. The greater the transparency, the less negative cases, including Smuggling directly.
