The Independent High Electoral Commission confirmed today, Saturday, that the coming period will witness an improvement in the protection of candidates and their propaganda, following the directives of Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani, while revealing that the security forces arrested those accused of tearing up election propaganda.
The head of the media team at the Commission, Imad Jamil, said: “The security services follow up on any attack on electoral propaganda, but after Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani confirmed this, a higher security committee was formed to preserve electoral propaganda and candidates.”
Jameel explained, "The government and security forces are keen on the integrity of the electoral process, and that the Prime Minister's directive will reduce violations of tearing up electoral advertisements, especially since their numbers will increase the closer they get to the day set for voting."
He added: “There will be an improvement in the issue of protecting candidates or electoral advertisements during the coming period,” noting that “electoral advertisements have been widely torn apart in recent days, and these violations have been witnessed in all governorates, and they did not target a specific party, coalition, or candidate, but rather almost "It was equal."
He confirmed that "the security forces arrested some of the elements who tore up the election propaganda."
