The Energy Police Forces Command reported, on Tuesday, the arrest of 24 defendants holding foreign nationalities who intended to destabilize the security of the oil fields in Basra Governorate.
The command said in a statement received by “Al-Eqtisad News” that “in implementation of the directives of the Director General of the Energy Police, Major General Dhafer Nazmi Jamal, and under the supervision of the Ninth Brigade’s command, a force affiliated with the aforementioned brigade arrested 24 defendants of foreign nationality who intended to enter one of the oil fields in Basra Governorate without permission.” Security approvals for the purpose of destabilizing security and causing chaos.”
The command added, "The accused were handed over to one of the local police stations in the governorate in preparation for implementing legal procedures against them."
