    Today, Wednesday (December 13, 2013), the head of the Federal Integrity Commission, Haider Hanoun, and the Brazilian Attorney General discussed effective mechanisms and techniques for combating corruption, and seeking to curb this scourge in institutions, in addition to the initial agreement to conclude a memorandum of understanding between the two parties.
    According to a statement by the Integrity Commission received by Baghdad Today, Hanoun stressed the need for the Republic of Iraq to benefit from successful experiences in the field of combating corruption, praising “the Brazilian experience in this, especially in the field of holding senior officials accountable,” warning that “Iraq needs to go through such an experience to recover money.” The people are senior officials who have had an impact on public funds.”
    Hanoun stated, “The Brazilian experience was one of the pioneering experiences in combating corruption,” noting that it “advised several mechanisms, including amending the legal system so that the relevant agencies could undermine corruption,” calling for amending the laws to combat this scourge in Iraq and granting broad powers to the oversight bodies. He expressed his hope to conclude a memorandum of understanding with the Office of the Comptroller General in Brazil. 
    For his part, Brazilian Attorney General Jorge Macies praised the good relations between Iraq and Brazil and the common ties that bring them together, praising the government’s measures taken in the field of combating corruption and making them a priority in its government program, welcoming the conclusion of a memorandum of understanding with the Iraqi Integrity Commission, and the keenness to exchange experiences in the field of combating corruption. .
