    The Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs announced today, Thursday, that it will launch the social security application form in the next few days, indicating that any citizen can apply via his phone, while noting that the law includes several features.
    The ministry’s media director, Najm Al-Aqabi, said, “A few days ago, the activation of the retirement and social security law was announced, and after the Prime Minister’s visit to the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs, he stressed the importance of the law and its rapid activation,” noting that “in the next few days, the form for applying for security will be launched.” "Any citizen can apply via his phone, coinciding with the shift to electronic payment and the simplification of payment for social security."
    He explained, “One of the most important new features of the Retirement and Social Security Law for Workers lies in expanding the umbrella of inclusion by adding the optional retirement security branch and guaranteeing workers in unorganized work a broader protection for workers and non-workers,” indicating that “the law adds labor service in the government sector for the purposes of bonuses and promotions.” Retirement and including a retirement equation that guarantees a retirement salary equal to the retirement equation for employees by paying 8% of the wages and allowances of workers in organized labor and 15% of the workers’ wages.”
    Al-Aqabi added, “The law will extend for employers the period for paying contributions to 90 days instead of 30 days, while stopping late fines to a ceiling of 200,000 dinars instead of continuing without a ceiling, and obligating the authority to automate all aspects of its work within a year from the date of enforcement of the law,” pointing out that “The law will provide workers with the purchase of service not exceeding five years for those who do not have service that qualifies them to receive a retirement salary.”
    Al-Aqabi pointed out, “Any Iraqi can guarantee himself voluntary retirement by transferring the partial disability pension to the successor upon the death of the retiree, granting annual cost-of-living allowances and linking them to inflation, and the possibility of returning the amounts of the end-of-service benefits that the worker had previously benefited from in order to be reinstated in the insurance.” Service is counted for retirement purposes.”
    He continued that the law included “reducing the disability pension eligibility rate from 35% or more to a disability rate of 30% or more, and adding the unemployment insurance branch by granting salaries by the Authority to the unemployed worker due to circumstances beyond his control and granting the insured worker pregnancy and maternity leave with full pay.” Providing health insurance for insured workers through contracting with reputable insurance companies, not to mention coordinating with the Ministry of Health to provide medical services for insured workers, and amending the salaries of retirees before the law comes into effect according to a mechanism established by the department based on the decision of the Board of Directors.”
