    Economy News - Baghdad
The Minister of Construction, Housing, Municipalities and Public Works, Bengin Rekani, confirmed today, Tuesday, that the ministry has no intention of expropriating or confiscating any lands or terminating agricultural contracts.
Rikani stated in a statement received by Al-Iqtisad News that “the ministry has no intention of expropriating or confiscating any lands or terminating agricultural contracts,” noting that “there are attempts to convert the lands located on the Dora-Youssefiya road into residential slums.”
He confirmed that he "received a delegation from the people of the Arab Jabour and Hor Rajab region, regarding what was raised about the government's intention to appropriate the lands located on the Doura-Yusufiyah road," indicating that "this area became part of the city of Baghdad after the Doura-Yusufiyah road was opened, and that there is Attempts to turn them into residential slums, sell agricultural lands and divide them, and put the government in front of a current reality with new distorted slums.”
He continued, "The government has decided to plan this area. Any citizen who wishes to remain in his home and land should stay and build, according to the design prepared by the government and approved by the competent authorities, and it will prevent these areas from turning into slums."
Regarding road prohibitions, the minister explained that “under the controls and road law, they differ in the areas located within the municipal borders, and the areas located outside the municipal borders, but in honor of the people of this region, the Ministry will unify road prohibitions to a minimum of (130) meters.”
