Al-Halbousi said in a statement, "We filed a lawsuit before the Federal Supreme Court regarding the constitutional and legal violations and violations that accompanied the session to elect the Speaker of the House of Representatives."

He added, "We requested that you focus on the unconstitutionality of the procedures and oblige the defendant to annul Session No. 1 of the third legislative year, held on January 13, 2024, and not repeat these violations."

Yesterday, Sunday (January 14, 2024), Representative Haibat Al-Halbousi accused the Deputy Speakers of Parliament, Mohsen Al-Mandalawi and Shakhwan Abdullah, of committing violations that caused obstruction of the session to select the new Speaker of Parliament.

The House of Representatives had ended the first round of the voting session to choose the new Speaker of Parliament, with the candidate leading Shalan Al-Karim with 152 votes out of 313 representatives present in the session.

Going to the second round, where the competition must take place between the two candidates who received the highest votes, namely Shaalan Al-Karim, 152 votes, and Salem Al-Issawi, 97 votes, the Presidency of Parliament, led by the First Deputy, did not hold the session despite hours having passed before it was scheduled to resume, before he postponed the session. .
