A security source in Maysan Governorate reported today, Friday, the outbreak of a violent tribal conflict that led to the cutting of a main road with Basra Governorate.
The source stated, “A tribal conflict broke out between the Nawafil and Ghazi clans, in which medium and light weapons were used,” pointing out that “the conflict broke out due to a dispute over agricultural land.”
He added, “The tribal conflict caused the blocking of the public road linking the provinces of Maysan and Basra,” stressing that “large army forces were able to intervene and forcefully stop the conflict between the two parties, and launched raids to arrest those involved in it.”
