Sullivan said, “The bombed targets were “military and legitimate.”

Sullivan stressed that “the American response is not an open military campaign,” adding, “If we see threats and attacks, we will respond to them.” The

US National Security Advisor stated that “there is no indication that Iran has changed Its policy regarding armed factions.

On Friday, the United States carried out the first wave of strikes in Iraq and Syria on more than 85 sites, killing nearly 40 people.

The American attacks in Syria alone caused the death of at least 18 and the destruction of at least 26 sites in Deir ez-Zor in the east of the country, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.

The American strikes increase tensions at a time when armed factions in Iraq and Syria and the Houthi group in Yemen are launching attacks on American bases in the region.

These groups say that "their attacks come in response to the United States' support for the Israeli war on the Gaza Strip, which has claimed the lives of more than 27,000 Palestinians, displaced almost the entire population of the Strip, and caused horrific humanitarian conditions since it broke out on the seventh of last October."
