The government is working to close the file of the displaced permanently and within the next few months. Although the government program included closing this file within 6 months, a number of reasons have postponed this end that everyone hopes for.
According to the Prime Minister’s Advisor for Component Affairs, Nofal Baha Moussa, the Prime Minister is determined to close the displacement file permanently in the middle of this year, revealing that most of the camps are located in the governorates of Erbil and Dohuk, and that the majority of their residents are from Sinjar from the Yazidi component who cannot return because of Political problems from parties in the judiciary.
Member of the Immigration and Displacement Committee, Representative Soran Omar, stated that political and economic reasons prevent the return of the displaced, explaining that 6 months are sufficient to close this file forever.

Rafo said, “Many of these camps were established quickly without the minimum safety standards, and after nearly ten years of displacement, the return of the displaced to their areas, and the closure of most of the camps, the Sinjar region is still the only region to which its residents have not returned.” He added, “There is About 300,000 displaced people are in 15 camps in the areas of Dohuk, Zakho and Samil, a number that constitutes approximately 70% of the total population of Sinjar. Rafo stated that “from the social cultural aspect, after ten years of displacement, a generation has grown up in the camps that have no knowledge of their region and lack of connection to it, its culture, customs and values.
