On Friday, former MP Rezan Sheikh Delir ruled out holding elections in the Kurdistan region on time in light of the Kurdistan Democratic Party’s announcement of its boycott of the elections.
Sheikh Dler told Al-Maalouma, “Holding elections is unlikely in light of the current circumstances within the region. If the Democratic Party continues its position of refusing to participate in the elections, its surrender to the fait accompli will be very difficult, especially in the governorates of Erbil and Dohuk.”
He stressed, "It is not easy for the Democratic Party to hand over power to other parties if they win the elections."
She explained, “The elections will not be held in the region at the specified time without a political agreement.” End 25 n.
