The Ministry of Immigration and Displacement confirmed that the government is conducting negotiations with Germany regarding the return of Iraqi refugees whose requests were rejected .
Ministry spokesman Ali Abbas said, “The government is not conducting negotiations with Germany regarding the return of all Iraqi refugees, but rather (their requests have been rejected).”
Abbas added, "The Iraqi government reached an agreement with its German counterpart to return refugees whose applications were rejected."
He explained, “The number of those covered by this agreement is “unspecified and subject to change,” stressing that “they are Iraqis and the government is very keen on preserving their lives, and their remaining in detention centers in this way is unsatisfactory for Iraq.”
