The Minister of Immigration and Displacement Jassem Mohammed Al-Jaf on Tuesday called on EU countries to take into consideration the humanitarian aspects of the Iraqi refugees in their countries, stressing the refusal of the government and the ministry to return forcibly to Iraqi refugees.
"The minister received the Swiss ambassador to Baghdad Heinz Peter Linz at the ministry building. The two sides discussed the files of the displaced and the returnees and the situation of Iraqi refugees in the EU countries," a ministry statement said.
"Some countries unfortunately use arbitrary measures to forcibly return Iraqi refugees to the country and do not take into account the humanitarian aspects, motives and circumstances that forced them to leave their homeland," Jaff said. "In the end, immigration and asylum are one of the most difficult choices faced by people who have to move away from their land" .
He stressed that "such as those rejected by the Iraqi government Vaaadthm to the country , the measures must be in accordance with the legal framework and understanding between Iraq and other countries with the need to encourage the voluntary return of Iraqi refugees and avoid being forced to return" .anthy 1
