It is not possible to imagine pioneering industrial development in Iraq without a rapid and efficient transport sector linking raw material areas to work sites and then a rapid shift to local and global markets with the aim of completing an integrated economy to contribute to achieving comprehensive national development goals and in light of the aspirations of the Ministry of Transport through the General Railway Company and its plans to transport... Millions of passengers travel annually through the development road, with its routes including all governorates, and in a later step, obtaining abundant financial returns from this road, to the point that it was said that it would match the benefits of the oil sector.
Although the railway transport sector in the world began at the beginning of the nineteenth century, but it arrived late in Iraq, Belgium was the pioneering country in the industrial revolution in Europe, which provided an ideal model in the field of railways to have a very positive impact in accelerating the industrial revolution. Which occurred in the Green Continent before any other country until that country became one of the most important major contributors to the development of railways early in the history of the international transport sector, while railways entered Iraq at the beginning of the last century during the British presence and extended across the railway network lines from southern Iraq to its north and then The national transportation sector recently began restoring, renewing, developing and creating many network lines and passenger and freight locomotives and expanding them to connect them to some neighboring countries, led by Turkey, in addition to planning to add the Baghdad Metro project, which is the first of its kind in Iraq.
Those in charge of the transport sector through railway lines are well aware of the necessity of reaching what these lines have become to accelerate the movement of transport in all parts of the world in terms of carrying goods and transporting passengers, which have achieved increasing numbers coupled with what technology has provided and good handling of energy sources to operate locomotives, as well as modern methods of building Railways are in places where the old canals were not able to operate or be significantly implemented, to the point of international competition to possess the best transport routes and lines via advanced locomotives, whether in terms of speed, the quantity of materials shipped in them, the level of services they provide to those who use them, as well as the quality of operating fuel that they use.
