    Economy News - Baghdad
[rtl]The Oil and Gas Committee and the Parliamentary Committee confirmed, today, Thursday, the necessity of having a law for the oil and gas file in all Iraqi provinces, including the Kurdistan Region, while identifying the "fundamental problem" of the oil and gas law.[/rtl]
[rtl]The deputy head of the committee, Adnan Al-Jaberi, said in a televised interview followed by "Al-Eqtisad News", that "the technical problems related to the oil and gas law can be solved by technicians without discussion, but the political problems need many meetings such as the meeting of the head of the Kurdistan Democratic Party, Masoud Barzani, with the political leaders in Baghdad."[/rtl]
[rtl]He added, "The Kurdistan Region believes that it has political authority over the issue of extracted oil, and fell into the trap of foreign companies that took contracts in the region at double and imaginary prices compared to extraction in other provinces."[/rtl]
[rtl]The Deputy Chairman of the Parliamentary Oil Committee explained that "the Kurdistan Region is unable to pay the dues of foreign companies due to the large sums and the inability to export individually."[/rtl]
[rtl]Al-Jaberi said, "The Kurdistan Regional Government must implement the law and the constitution and cooperate with the federal government to resolve this issue from a political perspective," stressing "the importance of having a law that we can rely on, because interpretations of the constitution may please some from a political perspective."[/rtl]
