    Economy News - Baghdad

[rtl]Member of the Parliamentary Committee on Economy, Industry and Trade, Yasser Al-Hussaini, confirmed today, Thursday, that there are many determinants that stand as an obstacle to the growth of the tourism sector in Iraq, with regard to the ideological and social aspects.[/rtl]
[rtl]Al-Hussaini said, in a statement followed by "Al-Iqtisad News", that "these determinants that prevent the advancement of the tourism reality, especially in religious tourism, which is the greatest aspect of the tourism reality in the country, are related to the ideological motive, as Iraq receives hundreds of thousands of visitors every year who come from countries around the world to revive religious ceremonies represented by the Arbaeen pilgrimage and other religious occasions."[/rtl]
[rtl]He added, "Opening the doors to visitors is a religious issue and a door of generosity for Iraqis, so the utilitarian aspect of the influx of tourists has been eliminated in this case, and the matter applies even to the tourist who visits tourist areas such as the marshes, for example, or in the rest of the other tourist areas, as he is met with great welcome by Iraqi families, who provide him with hospitality, housing, transportation, and other services, for free."[/rtl]
[rtl]He added, "The economic feasibility of tourism is almost lost in Iraq due to the hospitality and interest in the tourist, whether he is a tourist to religious or touristic sites, who receives the attention of Iraqis on an ongoing basis. All these reasons cast their shadows on the tourism sector and prevented it from being invested in the best way."[/rtl]
[rtl]He pointed out that "some citizens see the attempt to exploit the million-person visit, for example, that the country witnesses every year, as a wrong thing, as it is, from some people's point of view, an issue of rapprochement between peoples and the extent of the Iraqi people's acceptance of other peoples."[/rtl]

[rtl] Al-Hussaini pointed out that "many countries in the world invest in any event held in them, for example, hosting the Olympics or football tournaments, and they pay billions of dollars for a few days. However, in Iraq, the matter is different, and perhaps Iraq wants to send a message to the peoples of the world that the Iraqi people are hospitable and the doors of the country are open to everyone."[/rtl]
