    Baghdad Today - Baghdad
The Prime Minister's Office opened, today, Thursday, July 18, 2024, the file of victims of terrorism in Anbar Governorate and their entitlements.
Deputy Director of the Prime Minister's Office, Ali Razouki, said in a televised statement, followed by "Baghdad Today", "We found 10,000 (copied) retirement files out of 20,900 files."
He said, "The file of the victims of terrorism in Anbar is thorny and not easy, and the Prime Minister is following it up, and this reassures the families of the martyrs."
He pointed out that "in 2021, a file was raised in the Anbar Operations Command that there are large numbers of terrorists receiving benefits that are not their right and were included in the Martyrs Foundation Law."
Razouki pointed out that "a high-level committee was formed by the commander of Anbar operations, Lieutenant General Nasser Al-Ghannam, in 2021, and the committee resulted in several recommendations, including stopping the disbursement of dues pending verification after the discovery of terrorists covered by the Martyrs Foundation Law."
He stressed that "the Martyrs Foundation made a great effort to activate and review this file, and in the current government the file was activated and it turned out to be a large file related to the dues of some of the martyrs' families."
He said, "The Prime Minister recommended the formation of an audit committee headed by the Director General of the Martyrs Foundation to audit the files," revealing that "the number of those whose salaries were stopped exceeds 30,000 beneficiaries."
For his part, the head of the Martyrs Foundation, Abdul-Ilah Al-Naili, reinforced what the Prime Minister’s Office revealed about the file of victims of terrorism.
Al-Naili said, in a televised statement, that "the subcommittees in the governorates are responsible for approving the files of martyrs, the injured, and property."
He added, "When we assumed the presidency of the institution, we did not find any file related to the victims of terrorism in all the provinces, and when we went to retirement, we found photocopied files, not originals." He pointed out that, "There are approximately 65 thousand approved files in Anbar, and all of its decisions are photocopied, not original."
He stressed that "there are doubts surrounding 30,000 beneficiaries of salaries for victims of terrorism in Anbar."
