    Economy News - Baghdad
The General Authority of Customs explained, on Sunday, the details of the "RapScan" sonar devices for detecting goods at ports, including those that violate and are prohibited.
The head of the authority, Hassan Al-Aqili, said in a statement reported by the official news agency, and reviewed by "Al-Eqtisad News", that "the mechanism for customs inspection of goods is carried out using (rapscan) devices, and these devices provide multiple images, and behind the screens stands a customs employee who is responsible for analyzing these images and determining the densities present within the image, as well as determining violations and prohibitions," indicating that "the physical method is then used by opening the containers to view their contents and details."
He added, "The Authority also has radiation detection devices specialized in detecting goods that contain any radioactive indicator. In addition, there are drug detection devices that we are working on in cooperation with the security services present at the border crossings."
Al-Aqili continued, "The sonar in the grand welcome square has been linked to the Asycuda system that works with artificial intelligence," indicating that "the images will be matched and after a period of time the system will build a base from those images and stop the prohibited materials using artificial intelligence."
