MP Hassan Salem sent a letter to Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani regarding the thefts by Kar Company from Sarlu Station.
Salem stated in a statement that “Kar Company is smuggling 100,000 barrels per day without accountability or oversight, incurring losses of billions of dollars for Iraq,” indicating that “if the 100,000 barrels were invested for the Chinese agreement (oil for reconstruction), Iraq would have reached the highest levels of progress and reconstruction.”
He stressed the need for “the intervention of the Prime Minister, the Public Prosecution, the Integrity Commission, the Financial Supervision Bureau, the Ministry of Oil, the Parliamentary Integrity Committee, and the Parliamentary Oil and Energy Committee.”
