A year after the events of October 7 and the continuation of the Zionist aggression on Gaza...
    Hussein Al-Saadi:
Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani sent a message to US President Joe Biden and the European Union countries coinciding with the first anniversary of the outbreak of the events of October 7, and while warning of a dangerous slide that could drag the region and the world into ongoing wars, he inaugurated the second phase of the rehabilitation of the Central Children's Teaching Hospital in the capital, Baghdad.
The Prime Minister said in a statement: “With the first anniversary of the outbreak of the events of October 7, 2023, and the continuation of the Zionist aggression on Gaza, and its extension to brotherly Lebanon, and the threat to the entire region, Iraq reminds us of its early position, in which it warned of the consequences of the usurping entity's efforts to expand the war and conflict, and the results of letting it persist in committing crimes, amid the inability of the international community to play its role.”
“Today, in light of the serious repercussions witnessed by the region, we address our message to all friends, especially US President Joe Biden and the European Union countries, that we stand on the threshold of a dangerous slope that may drag the region and the world into ongoing wars, shake the global economy, and expose development to a major setback, especially since our region represents the lungs through which the world breathes energy,” he added, appreciating “the important position of French President Emmanuel Macron, who called for stopping the supply of weapons to the usurping entity and working to end the war, because it is a position that stems from a true appreciation of the seriousness of the situation in the region.”
He continued: “Our government has worked hard to spare Iraq the effects of this escalation, and we have succeeded in doing so with you and in cooperation with all friends in the world,” noting that “the current stage requires doubling our efforts, and that our top priorities should be to stop targeting civilians and save the region from the evils of a war that leaves nothing behind, and in which there will be no winner except the logic of killing, sabotage, and destruction.”
He stressed that "Iraq will continue its efforts and endeavors with friendly and sisterly countries, and joint work to calm down, and prevent the expansion of the conflict that affects the security of the region and the world."
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani inaugurated the second phase of the rehabilitation of the Central Children's Teaching Hospital in the capital, Baghdad, while stressing the need for the international community to play a role in maintaining security in the region.
A statement by the Prime Minister's media office received by "Al-Zawraa" stated: "Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani inaugurated the second phase of the rehabilitation of the Central Children's Teaching Hospital in the capital, Baghdad."
He added that al-Sudani toured the departments and halls that underwent rehabilitation, and was briefed on the most prominent services provided therein, and the updated medical devices and supplies, in order to ensure the improvement of the reality of the service provided to citizens, reiterating that the government places the issue of health services at the forefront of goals and among the priorities of services.
Al-Sudani explained, in his conversation with the medical and health teams working in the hospital, that the completion of the second phase of rehabilitation stems from the keenness to fulfill the promises to complete the health infrastructure, rehabilitate it and raise the level of service provided, stressing that maintaining the sustainability of service and health facilities is a shared responsibility between the citizen and the service agencies alike.
It is noteworthy that the second phase included the rehabilitation of departments; surgery, blood diseases, (4) operating rooms, radiology units, CT scans, MRI, drug store, internal pharmacy, blood bank, administrative wing and main entrance.
This phase also included the rehabilitation of more than 90 rooms in the hospital, the rehabilitation of sewage, water and electricity systems, providing the hospital with modern and advanced systems for monitoring and extinguishing fires, equipping the corridors with modern beds and completing the furniture and supporting medical equipment, awaiting the launch of the third phase, so that the rehabilitation covers the entire hospital.
On the other hand, Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani stressed the need for the international community to take responsibility for the Zionist aggression on Gaza and Lebanon.
A statement by the Prime Minister's media office, received by "Al-Zawraa", stated: "The Prime Minister received the British Ambassador to Iraq, Stephen Hitchen."
During the meeting, the Prime Minister stressed “the need for the international community and the UN Security Council to play their essential role in maintaining security and stability, especially with what is happening in the region, from the continued Zionist aggression on Gaza and Lebanon, and the persistence and exaggeration in targeting civilians in a war of genocide that requires condemnation and denunciation by the entire world, and requires respect for international laws and not violating them by any party.”
The statement added that “the meeting discussed the progress of relations between the two countries and ways to enhance them, as well as setting a new date for His Excellency’s visit to the United Kingdom, which had previously been postponed due to developments in the region.”[/size]
