    Economy News - Baghdad
The Finance Committee of the Council of Representatives will visit Erbil Governorate next week to hold a meeting with the Ministry of Finance and Economy of the Kurdistan Regional Government to discuss a number of common issues, including border points, military retirement, social welfare and non-oil revenues, which have gained great importance recently with the decline in oil prices in global markets.
The visit, according to the head of the parliamentary finance committee, Atwan Al-Atwani, aims to "identify the points of disagreement to consolidate the understanding" reached between the Ministerial Council for the Economy and the Kurdistan Regional Government and "resolve the differences and turn the page on the past."
Al-Atwani said, in statements reported by the Rudaw media network, and reviewed by Al-Eqtisad News, that “this will gives the momentum and strength to end the dispute once the picture becomes clear and everyone knows their obligations and duties.”
Lower oil prices and concerns about a widening budget deficit are prompting the parliamentary finance committee to step up its efforts to monitor non-oil revenues and ensure their collection.
In this regard, committee member Narmin Marouf said, “Crude oil prices have recorded a decline in global markets, which threatens the budget and the government’s obligations based on it, and its tasks and responsibilities that depend on oil revenues.”
Narmin Marouf stressed that “following up on enhancing non-oil revenues, ensuring the collection of all estimated revenues, in addition to following up on the performance of all government institutions, is a responsibility that falls on the committee.”
