Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani directed, today, Saturday (October 12, 2024), to stop the tax increase related to the transfer of real estate ownership.[/size]
[size=45]The Prime Minister's media office said in a statement that "Al-Sudani directed the suspension of the tax increase on the transfer of ownership of real estate of all types, which was issued by the Director General of the General Tax Authority, and he circulated it to the Authority's branches in the governorates, in an individual procedure on his part, contrary to the vision that came out of the Supreme Committee for Tax Reform, as well as contrary to Cabinet Resolution No. (24074 of 2024)."[/size]
[size=45]He added that "the Ministry of Finance, based on the Prime Minister's directives, has formed an investigative committee against those involved in issuing the tax increase decision, and it is now carrying out its work to determine the reasons for this violation, which is not based on the law, and has caused a clear state of confusion among citizens."[/size]
[size=45]Al-Sudani stressed, according to the statement, that “the tax file is of great importance to the government, as it is linked to the file of economic reform and maximizing the state’s non-oil resources, which places everyone before the necessity of dealing with this file according to the comprehensive vision on the basis of which the Supreme Committee for Tax Reform was launched, and in a way that achieves the public benefit and is not a burden on citizens.”[/size]
