On Sunday, the Investigation Department of the Integrity Commission revealed operations of manipulation, forgery, and transfer of ownership of real estate in the Najaf Municipality Directorate, indicating that 11 defendants were arrested during those operations .
The department said in a statement seen by Al-Iqtisad News, “The staff of the Najaf Investigation Office carried out an arrest operation against 5 employees in the Municipality Directorate, for their manipulation, forgery, and illegal transfer of ownership of several properties belonging to the state in the names of a number of people,” explaining that “ The defendants took advantage of stealing and burning old files and records and carried out their actions .”
She stated that “the arrest process was carried out in accordance with the provisions of Article 289 of the Penal Code,” explaining that “six employees of the vehicle maintenance workshop in the municipality of Najaf Al-Ashraf were arrested on the grounds that they tampered with the municipal vehicle maintenance inspection form and forced vehicle drivers to sign an “empty” inspection report. “Then they fill out forms and add errors and fictitious amounts to the records .”
He stressed that “the competent investigating judge decided to arrest the defendants who were arrested, based on the provisions of Article 318 of the Penal Code .”
