    Economy News - Follow-up
The Ministry of Commerce announced today, Tuesday, that the goods of the shopping centers are diverse and include all the needs of the citizen, while indicating that it will support the national product and compete with the private sector, and confirmed that the "hypermarket" centers will provide high-quality marketing goods at wholesale prices.
The spokesman for the Ministry of Trade, Mohammed Hanoun, said in an interview with the Iraqi News Agency, which was followed by "Al-Eqtisad News", that "the Ministry of Trade is putting the final touches to open marketing centers (hypermarkets) in Baghdad, which will include between (5-6) centers," stressing that "the technical details of the centers have been completed, and that the ministry is preparing for the opening with a wide public presence."
He added that "the ministry seeks, through the marketing centers, to support the national product and contribute to its marketing by selling local products in these markets," indicating that "there is cooperation with the private sector to import high-quality food products, especially meat, cheese and other food products that citizens need."
He pointed out that "the goods in the marketing centers (hypermarkets) will be diverse and include all the needs of the citizen, and will be at prices lower than the local market, which contributes to supporting poor families and those with limited income, in addition to state employees."
He stressed that "the marketing centers will work to achieve stability in local prices, so that these markets will be a commercial competitor to the private sector, not a substitute for it."
He pointed out that "his ministry is working to support the ration card and the food basket project by stabilizing the supply operations on a large scale to include all regions of the country. It is also working to support the Iraqi economy by establishing hypermarkets capable of providing services to citizens at wholesale prices and with high-quality and efficient products."
He continued, "This step will be a major turning point in the ministry's work, which aims to improve the performance of local markets and provide another refuge for citizens when prices rise."
