    The Ministry of Transport announced today, Tuesday, an upcoming meeting of the countries of the Quadripartite Memorandum on the development road, while it set a date for the completion of the design stages of the project.
    The ministry’s spokesman, Maitham Al-Safi, said, “On the 31st of this month, a ministerial meeting of the Ministerial Quartet Committee will be held regarding the strategic project, the Development Road. The meeting will include the Minister of Transport, Razzaq Muhaibis Al-Saadawi, and his counterparts in Turkey, Qatar, and the Emirates. The meeting will discuss the development road and the latest developments in the project.”
    Al-Safi pointed out that “the project is still in the design phase, which has reached its final stages, as the railway line has reached 100% completion, after conducting the topographic survey and soil investigation operations. As for the land line, the completion rates have reached 84%, and that this year will witness the completion of the initial basic design stages, then the transition to the detailed or final design stage, after which the project will be presented to companies to compete for opportunities to implement the project according to the Iraqi vision and what serves the interests of the Iraqi people.”
    He added, "The beating heart of the development road project is the Faw Port project, which has reached advanced stages of completion. Most importantly, the process of submerging the submerged tunnel has reached advanced stages after the completion of its five docks, which is a continuation of the Faw Port phase in 2025. Work is escalating, especially between the road linking Umm Qasr and Faw Port after reaching the final cladding stage, in addition to completing the final procedures, including the installation of lighting poles. There are also a number of bridges, the completion rates of which have reached 98% and 96% for the connecting line, as well as the drilling operations in the navigation channel and the container yard, which are ongoing and their completion rates have exceeded the planned."
    Al-Safi continued, "Our strategic projects are proceeding at an accelerating pace and are within the directives of the Prime Minister, and the continuous follow-up by the Minister of Transport and through our working cadres represented by the General Company for Iraqi Ports with regard to the Faw Port," noting that "this meeting will be very important, as it will focus on the organizational and administrative operations structure of the Development Road Project, and it is an opportunity to learn about the project and its latest developments."
