BAGHDAD / obelisk: The number of private contractors working with the US Department of Defense in Iraq has risen eight-fold over the past year, a rate that greatly exceeds the growing number of US forces that train and advise Iraqi soldiers who are fighting Sunni Islamist al Daash.

In the eighties, the US military decided to hire contractors to work in supporting roles that has been done historically by the military forces, and includes functions such as food service, and maintain housing units, water purification Brennan said, "and all those other things that go into maintaining troops in the field for a long time ", in addition to Iraq preference to contractors, these kinds of roles.
