A warning that the state of Hawaii was attacked by a missile on Saturday morning terrified its inhabitants before it was later declared a liar.

After the US military confirmed that no missile threat was detected and declared a false alarm, state governor David Eag said one of the staff had pressed the button by mistake.
The head of the US Federal Communications Commission, Ajit Bay, on Twitter, opened an investigation into the incident.
The White House said the US president, Donald Trump, was in Florida at the time of the warning, and he was informed.
"Today's warning was false, at any time of heightened tension," said Missouri Gov. Macy Herono. "We have to make sure all the information that is being published is accurate. We need to know what happened and make sure it is not repeated."
North Korea's missile and nuclear missile program is a growing threat to the United States, and Hawaii is one of the closest US states to North Korea.
In September, Pyongyang carried out its sixth nuclear test.
