's Peugeot Citroen has suspended its joint activities in Iran to avoid US sanctions after Washington withdrew from the nuclear deal.[/rtl]

[rtl]The automaker said in a statement it had begun suspending its joint activities in Tehran to comply with US law by August 6.[/rtl]

[rtl]The suspension of its joint ventures does not alter the financial guidance, the company said, noting that its activities with Iran account for less than 1 percent of total revenue.[/rtl]

[rtl]The statement said the automaker was seeking exemption from sanctions by US authorities with the help of the French government.[/rtl]

[rtl]European signatories are scrambling for a nuclear deal to salvage the deal, which seeks to protect trade with Iran in return for curbing Tehran's nuclear program.[/rtl]

[rtl]Peugeot Citroën and its French rival, Renault, moved quickly to sign new production deals to upgrade partnerships with Iran's Khodro and Saipa before sanctions against Tehran.[/rtl]
