Martyrs count the victims of military and terrorist operations to compensate them

Tariq Al-Mandalawi, Director General of the Victims of Those Operations Department at the Martyrs Foundation, said in a press interview that the victims of military errors are citizens who were injured or martyred as a result of the battles in residential areas where "ISIS" gangs were present, stressing that the directorate does not have accurate statistics for who included Compensation from victims of military errors.
He indicated that Law No. 20 of 2009 and its amendments No. 57 of 2015 and No. 2 of 2020 provided for compensation to any Iraqi person who was injured as a result of war operations, military errors and terrorist operations, and included the wounded of the Popular Mobilization Forces and Peshmerga forces, noting that the law established special foundations for compensation of property laid down by the Ministry of Finance And it operates in the central committees that concern movable and immovable money from commercial stores or cars belonging to Iraqis by nationality.
Al-Mandalawi confirmed that the Foundation is working on preparing a form for compensating the affected, and one of its fields distinguishes those affected by those operations, indicating that there are 25 sub-committees throughout the provinces except the Kurdistan region that compensate the affected, headed by a judge with representatives from the Ministries of Defense, Interior, Health and Justice, the province and the Martyrs Foundation .
Al-Mandalawi indicated that the committees are distributed in 5 in the governorate of Baghdad, 3 in each of Nineveh, Anbar and Salah al-Din, two in Kirkuk and one in the central and southern governorates, stressing that work is underway to compensate the martyrs, the injured, the kidnapped and the missing, as well as the movable and immovable property and money.
Al-Mandalawi explained the compensation mechanism, as compensation is made according to the law directly, if the amount is less than 30 million dinars, and if the compensation amount is more, then the compensation file is sent to three central committees in the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers to determine the amount of compensation, noting that there is no statistic about the properties compensated Since the establishment of the department until now, and that the institution has been awaiting the launch of the budget law instructions to distribute the compensation amounts.
