The President of the Republic, Barham Salih, discussed with the head of the Progress Alliance, Muhammad al-Halbousi, the general situation and political developments in the country, and the legislative elections.
A presidential statement stated, "The two sides stressed during the meeting the need to enhance security and stability in the country, unite ranks and rely on dialogue to solve problems and differences in viewpoints, protect the democratic path and adhere to legal and constitutional contexts, and the importance of concerted efforts in order to move towards meeting the aspirations of citizens and improving Living and service conditions.
Meanwhile, the President of the Republic called for closing ranks and completing the victory against terrorism. Saleh said, in a tweet to him on Twitter: "The terrorist attack on Kirkuk, which resulted in the martyrdom of a number of Peshmerga, and before that the attacks in Diyala and Salah al-Din on our security forces, confirm the attempts of terrorism to exploit loopholes and threaten societal peace."
