    Shafaq News/ Today, Thursday, the Minister of Agriculture, Abbas Al-Olayawi, revealed the details of the ministry's plan to advance the agricultural situation and reclaim agricultural lands, while reassuring farmers about their previous compensations and debts.
    Al-Olayawi told Shafaq News agency, "The Ministry of Agriculture's plan for this season was to increase the cultivated area of ​​wheat as part of securing food security," noting that "the conditions in the world today require the ministry to develop an alternative plan to face the water shortage that affected the plan." agriculture and decreased by 50%.
    He added, "Therefore, the alternative plan was to go to the desert lands that are irrigated through wells, and this area was increased to 4 million dunums in cooperation with the Ministry of Water Resources, while the irrigated lands reached, after the reduction, to one and a half million dunums."
    And the Minister of Agriculture continued, "The current season so far bodes well, as the increase in rain enabled the ministry to obtain an increase of one million dunums from the Ministry of Water Resources, and thus the lands irrigated through rivers increased to two and a half million, and through wells to 4 million, in addition to To one million and 100 dunams for the old land orchards.
    He also pointed out that "several decisions were issued by the Council of Ministers in the past period to support farmers, including increasing the subsidy rate for Dab fertilizer and urea by 50%, with an increase in the dose from 5 kilos to 40 kilos, in addition to increasing the amount of subsidy for seeds from 50% to 70%, and all this in order to facilitate the agricultural process for the farmers.
    Al-Alaywi continued, "Now we have an advertisement for pesticides, and after referring them to specialized companies, they will be distributed free of charge on agricultural lands, to eliminate bushes and everything that hinders the agricultural process, and the amount of food security has also been used by offering announced opportunities for vaccines."

    And he stressed, "The ministry is serious about supporting all agricultural requirements, especially modern agriculture, so we had, in the Economic Ministerial Council that convened, the day before yesterday, submit a request to support pivot sprinklers, and a decision was obtained from the council to enter these sprinklers without customs fees," noting that "it will provide An increase in cultivated areas through desert lands, and thus obtaining a good and appropriate amount of wheat insurance, which represents the country's food security.
    And the Minister of Agriculture stated, "During the last period, a set of other decisions were taken that were obtained from the Council of Ministers, including obtaining decisions for lands that were damaged by rain water in the year 2018, and included 6 Iraqi governorates, and were also included in the 2023 budget, and the amounts will be distributed to farmers and farmers."
    He added, "A request was also submitted to the Council of Ministers to obtain compensation for farmers for the last winter season, who did not have cultivation due to lack of water, and a decision was obtained to include the amount estimated at 136 billion dinars on the 2023 budget," noting that "all the debts that were incurred by The Ministry in the past period from the seed producers and from previous compensation in the year 2014, decisions were obtained from the Council of Ministers to distribute them, and the other part will be distributed after the approval of the budget.
