    Shafaq News/ On Tuesday, the President of the Kurdistan Region, Nechirvan Barzani, expressed his thanks for the support provided by the United States of America to Iraq and the region in confronting ISIS, stressing at the same time that resolving the differences and outstanding issues between Erbil and Baghdad contributes to achieving security, political and economic stability in the country .
    Nechirvan Barzani said in a joint press conference he held with US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin after their meeting in Erbil, "We talked about the importance of supporting the Peshmerga forces and Iraqi forces in the face of ISIS, and we stressed the importance of continuing support by America and friendly countries for the reform project and organizing the Ministry of Peshmerga." ".



    He added, "We reassured them that we are insisting on the project to reform the Peshmerga forces, and remove the obstacles that stand in the way of that, as well as we will continue to make efforts to solve the internal problems of the Kurdistan Region."
    He stated, "We agreed that resolving the differences between Erbil and Baghdad will achieve calm, security, political and economic stability in Iraq."
    He went on to say, "We agreed on the importance of supporting the Iraqi government and working together in the region in order to maintain stability," adding, "We stressed that the Kurdistan Region will remain as always a factor of calm and stability."
    President Nechirvan Barzani addressed the minister, saying: We thank your role in helping the Peshmerga, and we thank America for the continuous support for Iraq and the Kurdistan Region, indicating that common interests and cohesion bring us together with America, and together we can maintain security and stability in Iraq and preserve its interests.
    For his part, Austin said during the conference, "We worked together in difficult times, and jointly in confronting ISIS," adding that "America, the federal government, and the Kurdistan Region worked to restore sovereignty to Iraq."
    He stressed that we will continue the war against ISIS, and that the Peshmerga forces, together with the Iraqi and American forces, faced ISIS, and said, "We will remain in Iraq, and we are here at the invitation of the Iraqi government to confront ISIS."
    He noted Washington's continued support for the Peshmerga forces and Iraqi forces of all kinds, stressing support for the strategic memorandum of understanding concluded between the Ministry of Peshmerga and the US Department of Defense, which provides for the United States' support for the Peshmerga forces.
    And the US Secretary of Defense continued, saying: We support cooperation between the Peshmerga and Iraqi forces, and the formation of a joint brigade between them, and we continue efforts for the Kurdistan Region and Iraq to reach an agreement between them.
    He stressed that the threats of ISIS still remain, and pose a threat to the lives of the population and the entire region, and it is possible that the organization will reappear again in Iraq, calling on Erbil and Baghdad for joint coordination in the interest of the Iraqi people.
