    [rtl]Baghdad - Iraq today:[/rtl]
[rtl]The Ministry of Water Resources revealed that the levels of the Euphrates River in Iraq were recorded at the lowest historical level of decline, while calling for the need for all parties to assume their responsibility within Iraq regarding the water scarcity crisis.[/rtl]
[rtl]Ministry spokesman Khaled Shamal said in a press interview that “the water file in Iraq has become complicated, given that the country is restricted by water quotas from neighboring countries and its dependence on that exceeds 70% of the revenues flowing from upstream countries,” pointing out that “The water issue has become everyone’s responsibility, not just the Ministry of Resources.”[/rtl]
[rtl]Shamal explained, “There is a curriculum for the upcoming visit of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to Iraq, which will include many protocols that will take into account the water quotas coming from Turkey towards Iraq, and the negotiations with neighboring countries in this regard need continuity and strength and that the file be sovereign.” “.[/rtl]
[rtl]Shamal added, “The decrease in the water discharges of the Euphrates River has led to a decrease in its levels in Iraq, and it is now at its lowest levels in the river’s history,” noting that “the Euphrates River has greatly affected the irrigation and storage projects established in Turkey and Syria, which reduced the volume of revenues.” The Euphrates River in Iraq reaches 168 cubic meters per second, while it is necessary for the country to obtain more than 250 cubic meters per second.[/rtl]
[rtl]He added, “The Turkish water releases reached 500 cubic meters per second for only two weeks, then they began to fluctuate little by little until they reached 223 cubic meters per second, which is about half of the releases.”[/rtl]
